Tea is the second most popular drink in the world behind water and dates back to over 4000 years ago in china. And one of the earliest types of tea is Green Tea which you will find all over the world.Its extreme popularity is owed to the amazing health benefits it contains. Most of the claimed benefits of green tea are researched extensively and are all backed up by science. From preventing cancer to just making you feel better, there is no doubt that green tea can do amazing things for your body. This blog post will only be focused on its benefits concerned with working out and fat loss. The two main health benefits of green tea areCaffeine and ECGC. Firstly caffeine.  at about 75mg per cup green tea comes in at half the amount of caffeine as coffee. If you drink two cups in the morning you will have the same kick to the day. One thing green tea has that coffee doesn’t have are catechins. Roughly one third of a green tea leaf is composed of four different catechins. Epicatechin, Epicatechin Gallate, Epigallocatechin and Epigallocatechin Gallate (by far the most important chatechin) Epigallocatechin Gallate is also known as EGCG which is the second key health benefit of green tea. EGCG has the ability to inhibit COMT, an enzyme that degrades catecholamines. Catecholamines are hormones that are used to increase muscle contraction. EGCG will also help with lypolosis, Which is essentially fat loss. Caffeine has shown to increase Catecholamine production which is why EGCG and caffeine work so well together. But there is a big catch here. Studies have shown that people who have built up an intolerance to the effects of caffeine experience  a high drop in the effects of EGCG. But this works both ways, If you have not comsumed much caffeine in the past then you will maximize the beneifits of green tea. EGCG also inhibits the bodys absorbtion of carbs, which means you may excrete some of your carbs meaning less weight gain. Green tea has too many health benefits not not be considered adding to your diet so i insist you give green tea a chance.
